Lets just say they're related to love...

First and foremost, guess who I saw at the mall today?
IT'S A FRICKING GIANT PIKACHU. *Hyperventilates*
Yeah, there was this promotion for Pokemon Black and White happening at the mall. There was this activity section (which I assumed were for children, which is a shame) where you could colour in the new starters (so wanted to do that), make a paper Pikachu visor, get your face painted, and - of course - sample the new game.

Anyways, moving away from Pokemon and to actual art stuff. Productive this time, as well as being experimental and colourful. Oh, and all of them are traditional.

An angel

Note to self: fixative and markers do not work good together. So the explosion of red at the bottom is in no way intentional.
Thought it is beyond me as to why only the red smudged everywhere and the rest stayed put.

When I was colouring her wings in, I was like, "Huh, the colours remind me of a fish." Not good right there.

Inked with a sepia Prismacolor fine liner.
Coloured with COPICs.

Stranger
Tried to do the salt gimmicky thing with it, except the paper wasn't wet enough, I dumped a whole bunch of salt in one collected place, and I didn't grind the salt enough prior to sprinkling it on (since we use kosher salt due to it not containing iodine, but that's another story for another time). So, given the conditions, it kind of failed.

Not too crazy about the yellow/orange background, either. I thought it'd contrast nicely with the darkness and the purple of the subjects, but now it makes it more happy then it should be intended. Should've stuck with gray or blue or something.

Hook, Line, and Sinker
Might remember this picture before scribbled into my agenda. I've been thinking about redrawing some of my agenda pictures, due to me liking the concept but horribly failing at conveying it initially. I think it goes without saying that this is a much better rendition. I mean, the pose, for one, looks a lot better. The only thing that sucks in that I couldn't fit the fishing pole in.

Maybe I should've used a reference for the heart, even though I just finished learning about it in Bio. I'm quite acquainted with it, especially since I just studied it for who knows how long for midterms.

Background was a pain to do, plus it looks pretty bad. I was waffling between drawing this and watching a horror movie, too (not a good one, mind you).

Drawn in pencil.

Skull
The diagonal lines are there because I trimmed the paper into a weird shape. It looks pretty cool set in front of its news print background (made of rectangles I cut out of the Chinese newspaper that was lying around; don't worry because I only destroyed the ads).

Trying to mimic the black and white style of Miwa Shirow. Like, seriously. Zero screen tones, just pure black and white, man. I don't know how well I did with this, though. I think there should be more pure black areas, but you know how hard those are to colour when you have a 0.05 pen?

Skull (obviously) was heavily referenced, and thus looks great. Like it's my favourite damn part, even though I know it's nowhere near anatomically correct!

Inked with Sakura Pigma pens.

Tears
I don't like how the eye makes the picture so top-heavy so I tried to even it out with the tear-drop shape going on. Used yellow and orange for the same reason for another picture above.

I like how her face has a tear-drop shape, though the neck kind of kills it.

I also plan to add some details using the spanking new dip pen set I bought yesterday and some white ink. I'm not going to update the picture if I do, though, so just imagine its.

Alright, and now lets say they're all related to love so I can say that it's related to Valentines Day.

For Valentines Day

...eh, not really. But it has to do with hearts, somewhat.

Excuse the obvious emo-ness in the following picture.

"You missed"
Check out my sexy handwriting used for the deep, insightful phrases. I know you love it.
My anatomy skillage here is equally sexy, too.

Didn't bother inking it. Bleh. After my Kurama picture, I don't want to fine line anything in a long time, ick.

The picture looked cooler in my head, trust me.
Probably going to redo it in the future because I made the image in my head die in my eyes.

Just finished painting this one. I warns you now that there's really mild nudity, but if you're sqeemish about that kind of stuff (like, how old are you again?) then I advice you to avoid it.

I guess this is a Valentines card of some sort.
Did something simplier than usual. However, generally, I like how this turned out. (Way better than the first one, at least.)

I don't like how the blue hair is taking up all the attention, as its supposed to be the heart. Though I do like how the composition all point towards the heart anyways.

I hate how it warped still, though.

I don't even remember the last time I used watercolours

I've been using brushes everything, my toothbrush anyways. It's been a while since I've picked up a paint brush, but yesterday I bought 24 pack of Artist's Loft watercolor pencils and was excited to test them out.

I used regular Strathmore Sketchbook paper, and it's like pretty thin so the paper warped, surface rubbed off, and the colour bled to the other side. This explains the dark wrinkles on the paper. I used a lot of water to create the blotting effects, way more than the paper could withstand. Ah, maybe next time I should use watercolour paper, but it's so expensive! Anyone know a cheaper alternative?

It stared off with the head sketched in with blues, purples, and greens. When I painted that in, I decided, on a whim, to add wings, because wings are cool. I soon noticed I would need to lay down more colour than I liked if I wanted it blend in with the head. Here comes my Talens water color set my sister bought in Hong Kong, mint condition.

For my first picture with any kind of "paint", it didn't turn out as bad as I expected. I enjoyed the generic, run-of-the-mill colours offered by my watercolour set than I expected. When it comes to markers and coloured pencils, the more colours, the better. I forgot you can mix with paints. Also, I found out that pans/cakes is way more convenient than tubes. Have you ever noticed that when you mix colors together, you get less than what you started out with? Weird.

Don't ask me about the white oval in the bottom of the dress. I don't know either.

So, interested with the new media, I tested it out again today. This time, I drew in a pencil outline as well as trying to get the colours to what it's supposed to be. Oh, and less water.

The hair turned out great, albeit a bit plain, but for the most part I had kept it to the outline. "Alright," I thought, "the rest should be great, too!"

Well, the skin turned out pretty horribly. The pink I intended for the the fingers, cheeks, and joints spread everywhere.
Oh, and I also found out that the "black" I was using actually was a purple, and my jar of water was actually blocking the real black!

I added in some white highlights with my new brush, the Nobel round short-handle in size 5/0, the finest brush I own. I was hesitant with it, though, as I intended it to either be used with masking fluid or or white ink, and the white-ness would make it a real pain to clean.

Excited to explore some more.
