Lets have a round of fanarts up in here

Started off as fanart... kind of, but I guess a guy with long red hair is too ambiguous. Oh well, at least I got to play with colours, even though I still haven't completely warmed up to red plus green.
Yukina.
Maybe I should just try pure fanart for a while because, really, who cares about OCs and random people?

Hiei

Hiei
I was discussing Yu Yu Hakusho with my sister earlier, and I guess that got me thinking about the lack of YYH fanart I have - or really, lack of any fanart not relating to Vocaloid. That becomes quite an issue when you go selling prints when all you have are things people don't know about. Besides, I'm sort of in an artist's rut right now so relying on other people's characters would be of the best interest.

But back to Yu Yu Hakusho. I think they need some more fanart so I'll help by contributing. And since Hiei's awesome, I'm gonna do fanart of him first.

Fanart: Kurama and Youko Kurama

Did I ever mention that I'm an avid Yu Yu Hakusho fan? Though this may not be unheard of for some, I live in Canada and we don't got no Cartoon Network here. That translates to a lot of people going, "Yu Yu Hakusho? What's that?" (Though Hunter X Hunter is a different story, though it's made by the same dude.)
In fact, I'm listening to Yu Yu Hakusho character songs right nao.

I'd love to take the time to add right now that I am no "I liek mainstream animus" kind of guy, mmkay?

But in any case, if you haven't guessed already, after doing fanarts for Panuto-kun and Friends, I figured I might as well do some for another favourite of mine's.

Kurama and Youko Kurama
I was also working on this in the library. Nobody complemented me on this, though, but I prefer it if there wasn't someone watching me work, lol.

Messed up Kurama's hair badly. That's my half-assed way to salvage it.
Pants look liek shiet, too. Folds will be the bane of me.

Something about fine lining the way I do makes pictures look so much... noobish to me. Always have, from the time I first got my hands on some Sakura Pigma pens. I don't know what it could be, though.

Oh yeah, it's Kurama's character song that I'm listening to, too.

Anime Evolution and Chibis!

I've attended the local anime convention, Anime Evolution, for almost three years now. Last year I decided to actually buy a pass and not just be taking pictures of cosplays and browsing the Artist Alley (and what a good decision, too, because the where it was set had some hardass security!). It all started as a joke with my friend as I was browsing Artist Alley. I told her that I should kick one of the ugly people by taking a table myself. And a year and a couple of days later - now I'm, sitting in front of my very own table.

Highlights:
  • Sneaking into things.
  • Sharing the table with my friend and her 5 for 5 cent keychains!
  • The worst cosplay competition and the winner - Gundam box.
  • Going to the Team Four Star panel and seeing everyone in real life - and seeing the new episode before anyone else minus the people in the panel.
  • Pedobear trying to pick me up when I said I was still a minor.
  • Getting a hug from Lanipator when I said I was a fan of Yu Yu Hakusho Abriged - because I am.
  • Buying Zelda: Ocarina of Time for 15 bucks - exactly.
  • Getting commissioned five times.
  • Selling around $80 dollars worth of art!
Yup, that's right: almost $80 dollars worth! I'm really surprised because I didn't think I would even make $50 dollars to cover the table costs but I was able to on the first day! Unfortunately, I didn't pay off all the printing costs but that's all good because 80 bucks is awesome enough.

And most of my sales came from these (it's okay if I show them because I'm just going to remake them for next year anyways - but yeah, no stealing all that shiz):

Left to right; top to bottom:
Link, Shiek, Alphonse Elric, Edward Elric, Ciel Phantomhive (), Ciel Phantomhive ();
Zelda, Zero Suit Samus Aran, Winry Rockbell, Claire, Sebastian Michaelis
, Natsu Dragneel;
Gray Fullbuster, Ignis, Hiei, Enma Ai, Shiki;
Kamina, Yoko Litner, Yuri Nakamura, Tenshi (Kanade Tachibana), Youko Kurama, Akira.

Man, did we ever have the worst spot in the whole Artist Villa (that's right, the name changed). It was hidden in some secluded hallway that could only be seen by people who were unfortunate enough to be trapped in the lineup spanning on the opposite wall of the hallway. I'm not joking, it was horrible. I bet if there wasn't signs everywhere saying, "MORE ART IT'S AWESOME" pointing in my direction, no one would have known. They would have been more occupied in the parts of Artist Villa held in the main entrance and in the two visible rooms upstairs.

Now that I'm not so much an Arist Villa noob, I think I have a good idea of what my art is worth.
Also, never doing "Pay what you want" day ever again, haha. I think the record was 2 bucks for a large 8x11 print and four chibis. Yup, shut down the offer after that.

I bought an evil bunny plushie, a commission of one my complicated characters, a Kaito magnet, and a tiny keychain in that order! The last two things I just bought because my wallet was so full of coins that it was getting hard to close!

I'm actually starting to do some art for next year because now I learned that even with art, rushing on the last day is balls.

I really can't wait for next year! For some reason, though I didn't feel this for any prior years, I'm actually kinda sad that AE is over. Oh, I'm going to miss waking up at 9, meeting my friend, and driving everyone there!

School Doolies 6.5: FANARTS

Did you think that I totally neglected any art over the past few months of absence? Of course not!
No surprise as to what I'm obsessed with as of recent so without further ado, some more fangirl stuffs!

A lot of non-fanart pictures strewn in there, but guess who's the colourful red head suppose to be? Did I hear a Yukina from Yu Yu Hakusho? And look, down there! Hiei and Kurama? I think that totally constitutes as fanart right there.

Look at that floating head, excluded from everyone else. You know, that's suppose to be Hiei (an unfinished on at that). But why put this in the fanart section when the remainder of the picture isn't fanart? Well, silly reader, obviously, the bottom pictures are fanart too. Where from? You'll just have to guess.
Bonus! Find the Kurama in this picture!

*sigh* I really think that I'm pretty deep in this fangirl business. Sure, it's not a I-will-buy-everything-and-change-my-user-name-to-"(blank)'s-girl"-or-something, but... Let's just say that I'm a good, gullible consumer, lol.

No explanation needed to explain this awesomeness.
Gah, another Kanaria cameo.

Check out the other parts to this six part upload-spam series:
6.1: Studies
6.2: Kanaria and Anaria
6.3: Concepts
6.4: Can You Keep a Secret
6.6: Miscellaneous Crap

Fanart: "Gingerbread" Dark Tournament

If you haven't figured out from this post, I am currently obsessed over a small series. But to make it more obvious that I'm obsessed, when I was given opportunity to make "gingerbread" graham cracker houses, instead of a house, I made... you guessed it, the dark tournament.
What is the dark tournament? Well, if you don't know already, it's from Yu Yu Hakusho, and really, that's all you need to know. :P

Can you see the similarity?
It's uncanny how both of 'em look so much together, right?

In the reference picture, it shows that half of the roof is intact when Hiei used his Dragon of the Darkness Flame, but in my world, Hiei's just so damn cool that he blew off the whole roof, and even a bit of the side (shown by the uneven crackers at the front). See how ingenious I can be when making up excuses for not having enough graham crackers?

Now, for a more in depth view of the tournament, starting with turnarounds.

But, wait! What is this I see? Something's happening inside the tournament...?
Hiei's (red) in the ring, duking it out with Rinku (instead of whomever he's suppose to fight because Rinku sucks more)...

...with his team, Kurama (orange), Kuwabara (yellow), and Yusuke (green), avidly watching on the side..
...unfazed, unlike other demons which has faced the Dragon's wrath.

Anyways, I'll tell you how to make your very own stupid looking dark tournament now!
I used six crackers for the floor, and eight for the sides. I just glued on three by three for the floor, then on each side (the skinnier one), in between the top and bottom crackers, I glued both of the side crackers perpendicular to the the bottom. Two more crackers should stand in the middle crackers of the floor, across from each other, making a rectangle with the side crackers. Then, slanted crackers were used to connect all the missing parts to form a kind of diamond shape with all its sharp sides cut off.
A "circular" cracker was then covered in icing and stuck in the middle of the stadium. I bit off Hiei's and Rinku's legs to make them shorter, but kept everyone else the same height and found a retarded looking yellow one for Kuwabara. Koto's even there! (The fallen orange one) I threw in some decapitated gummy bears and graham cracker pieces for the effect of Hiei's awesome.
The outside consists of red gummy bears with its face bit off, and flat side stuck on the walls. I think they're windows, but I'm not sure.
And you can't go wrong with cola balls. :P

So, there you go. If you want to make a stupid replication of my equally stupid looking dark tournament, go ahead. I think all I need to tell you now is that the icing was way too thick due to too much icing sugar and too less water. Really, it didn't run at all and when you scooped it, it stuck to the spoon.

BONUS! Guess what my sister made for her graham cracker creation?

The answer is Link from LOZ.
Just imagine, it was 3D once.

(Damn, I just detest Blogger's photo shit.)

Fanart: Yu Yu Hakusho

Well, yeah, I don’t know how it happened, but looks like I’m fangirling over Yu Yu Hakushoagain.
It all started out with me finishing some homework in my sister’s room. She then played a song fitting of the moment - Homework Never Ends (we’re not sure if the actual lyrics fit it, though, haha) – which just happened to be a YYH ED.
After that, I decided to listen to Wild Wind (a YYH character song) for the first time in, like, what? Four years?  I don’t even know why I skipped the song, because it’s not bad.
Not to mention YYH Abridged (mind you, it’s genuinely funny and the voice acting’s pretty sweet, something I can’t say for most abridged series *cough*Resident Evil*cough*) which I all recommend if you want to watch an Abridged series (I guess Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged people may enjoy too, but it's not really my cup of tea).
Anyways, I never understood why I had an attachment to the series. It never played on TV and was pretty much an unknown title, sneered at for it being "old". I found other ways to bring the series a bit closer to me, but never close enough (I'll explain that in another YYH post, I suppose). Still, I've enjoyed it since grade 4, and I still do.
And yeah, that’s pretty much the story.

Anyways, onto some fanart!

Yukina.
You can see a bit of unfinished-Hiei’s leg, too.
She's pretty much my favourite female in the whole series. She can do something (unlike everyone else minus Botan but even then, all she can do is ride her oar) and even is included in a YYH game as a playable character (because, yeah, she can do something).
Left to Right: Kurama, Youko Kurama, Hiei.
Tried to be a bit more simplistic with this one. Originally, I had coloured everyone in in two shades (minus Hiei, who got orange for the second shade), but two turned to three, and three turned to four.
Before I scanned this, I realised that Hiei looked too cool with his red and orange (and soon purple) scheme going on, but Youko and Kurama (especially Kurama) were paling in comparison.
That’s where the nasty orange comes in. :(

First Row: Hiei with cloak, Dark Tournament Kurama with Rose Whip; Second Row: Cloak-less Hiei with sword, Youko Kurama with rose.
If it isn't obvious enough, like myriads of other people, Kurama and Hiei are my favourite characters. Like, though I'm clearly aware of otherwise, Hiei's still freakin' stronger than Yusuke. I don't care what you say; I'm in denial.

UPDATE:
More pics~

Left to Right: Mouse (not related to YYH in any way), Kurama, Youko Kurama, Yukina, Botan, Hiei and Hiei again.
While Kurama is holding a rose (for his signature rose whip), Youko Kurama has his Youko Death Plant (its name in the game, Yu Yu Hakusho Tactics, so I don’t know how true it is to the canon). They’re the only guys equipped for battle, minus second Hiei who has his bandages off, Jagan out, and his Dragon of the Darkness Flame out, ready to kick some ass.
The girls are pretty weak, so, eh. They can’t fight anyways, unless you consider Yukina’s healing a fighting ability.
Just got bored in Chemistry, pretty much, and that was the birth of these chibis. Oh, that and I’ve wanted to draw a super charged Hiei for a while now.
Remember, kids: he is the dragon now. He is the dragon! Eat that, Dragon Ball Z.

Drawn on scrap photocopy paper (and homework) with mechanical pencil.
Second picture’s drawn on sketchbook paper (I’m assuming?) with mechanical pencil and coloured with Prismacolour, Laurention, probably Crayola, and whatever-the-hell-else-was-available-in-my-art-class brand coloured pencils.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to listen to my 390+ MB of YYH songs I downloaded in the span of two days (if I really wanted to be crazy, I’d also download the 3 part, 40+ songs per part game music album. Unfortunately, I don’t think my Shuffle can hold that many, haha.
EDIT: Hot damn, are their songs are awesome. I can’t stop downloading…

School Doolies 5: Super Spam Tiem

...Well, I can only post five things per day, SO NOT THAT MUCH SPAM, I GUESS.

Monster... things. I need to work on my creativity, seriously. *sigh*

Super sketch spammage! Started off as SonicShit fanart (who is a fellow dA user, I'm just really mean to his "art". His name is not "SonicShit" btw, but I guess it's good that I didn't put its real name there) then evolved to character designs for a manga my friend and I are collabing in. On the bottom, there's some gesture practice, and some more creatures.
If you haven't noticed, faces are a reoccurring additions to my sketch spammage.
Playing with ink. I kind like just inking the outlines and keeping the pencil sketch inside.

Moar fanarts! Who do you see?
Also practicing my animal drawing abilities (or really, feline and canine drawing abilities :P). Ever since grade 4 and I just stopped drawing animals at all, I've really deteriorated (not that I was much to begin with).

Believe it or not, I actually draw things not anime. Some stalker sketches of faces of classmates in my art class. It's kinda hard when they're moving about and I can't draw realistic faces for shit. I also copied some poses in a magazine. The bondage pose picture I found the magazine was just so interesting that I had to rip that page out. (Don't worry, we were destroying these magazines for our collage anyways)

Made on photocopy paper and (in fifth pic) some fancy drawing paper with crappy mechanical pencil and (in third pic) Faber Castell medium PITT artist pen in black.
